Last weekend, one of our August bride shared with me about how stressful she feels right now with so many milestones she need to achieve before her wedding. She feels like she can not handle it anymore. I think many of you girls, with or without a wedding to prepare, has been in that state from time to time. Whether you are in school or working, the fast pace of the modern life makes us feel that we don’t even have time to breath.

Besides helping Hy with HyStudio, I am a working gal in Silicon Valley. I am struggling with work and life balance every single day. There are good days when I feel I am contributing positively to the tasks at hand. I feel so fortunate to have a job that I love passionately. There are bad days when I feel that if I put in 1 more minute, I will faint. On those days, I don’t even know how I can live on for one more day. (ok.. a bit exaggerating here, but y’all know what I mean.)

Hy on the other hand, knows well on how to balance his life. We dated 10 years before we got married. Even back in the school days, Hy was the one who dragged me away from my computer to enjoy life’s beauty. Hy was the one who pointed out that the leaves were changing color in the Fall season, the bright color bird rested on the tree branches, while I had my eyes fixed on the road with my mind puzzling on those annoying programming bugs that needed to be resolved. (We were Computer Science major).

Hy saw me working way too much these days as I am in transition to a new role at work. This Sat. afternoon, Hy pushed me out of our front door and took me for a short hike in Saratoga. We went for a short trial behind the beautiful Villa Montalvo property in Saratoga, which also happens to be one of the popular wedding venue.

My best friend got married here couple years ago. I was her maid of honor. Visiting the site again triggers sweet memories. The girl now lives outside of the country. I really missed her.

The weather was really nice. I can smell the sweet smell of grass and flowers on the property. During the short hike, we had time to laugh over couple things and enjoyed short moments of getting away from our daily routines.

Hy got his detail lens with him in the afternoon. He loves nature. He used to do this, going on trails and taking photos all day every spring weekend, before HyStudio. He was cheerful like a little boy that he had time out to take nature photos.

Different type of flowers blooming in the Villa Montalvo garden. The gardeners and landscapers did an amazing job with the garden.

Since Hy comes to Villa Montalvo more often than I am, Hy recognized this statue and told me this is “Adam and Eve”. “How do you know?” I asked. “Because there is a snake in the back.” I didn’t believe him, so I walk behind the statue, there is! Check it out next time you are there.

Hy just can’t stop being a wedding photographer .. nice couple shot isn’t it ? haha . .

Girls, give yourself a break sometimes. Wedding planning is very stressful. There are so many details to think and to plan. But when you feel like you can’t go on anymore, give yourself a time out. Your wedding day will come and go, but your love for each other and your life together will be what last.

Drop everything wedding related for a short moment. Breath and treasure the special person who’s next to you. Walk out of that door with that dear fiance of yours, and LIVE.
