These days, there are so many wedding related reality TV show. If you go to TLC’s web site, there’s “Say Yes to The Dress”, “Masters of Reception”, Jun Lee Fete Events’ “Wedding to Perfection”. I’ve been trying to control myself for not getting sucked into those shows, but if I turned on TV and one of those is on, then it would take significant amount of will power to switch the channel or turn off the TV.

Hy and I have been in the wedding industry for close to 5 years now. We started HyStudio while we are preparing for our own wedding. And now, Hy and I are going to step into parenthood, another stage of life. Yet, I am still madly in love w/ weddings. For each HyStudio wedding, I would spend days looking and re-looking through each photos. They just make me happy.

Janet looked stunning in her Lazaro gown. In Janet and Jason’s wedding portrait shots, the gown was show-cased much better. I love the detailing of the gown. I wore a Lazaro wedding gown when I got married as well. There are so many great photos from Janet and Jason’s wedding. I have a hard time choosing what to show you girls.

Janet and Jason got married at the beautiful Harvest Inn at Napa Valley earlier this year. They both lived in Chicago. Getting married at the beautiful Napa Valley is a destination wedding.

Janet and Jason decided to take some photos before the ceremony. So Hy helped to capture the first moment they saw each other before the ceremony.

Harvest Inn is a beautiful venue. It was one of the venue that Hy and I also considered many years ago for our own wedding.

It was a fun party at night. The guests get cookie and milk for energy boost after full night of dancing.

Danielle + Jeff – Reception

Venue: Mauna Lani Resort, Big Island , Hawaii

I’ve been wanting to showcase Danielle & Jeff’s reception for a while now. I didn’t get to do it before my long Asia trip, now that I am back, I finally had a chance to organize a bit. I wasn’t there on their big day. But I really enjoyed looking through the photos as it reminded me some great time I had couple years ago at Hawaii. This entry will have 30+ photos, because I just can’t cut them down. Enjoy girls ~

Danielle + Jeff – Ceremony

Venue: Mauna Lani Resort, Big Island , Hawaii

Danielle called and booked us over the phone. Hy and Frank were honored to be in this beautiful wedding alongside the romantic beach of Big Island.

Danielle did her own makeup and hair. She’s a professional makeup artist.

This is our first traditional Jewish wedding.

This is one of my favorite photo during the ceremony.

Migi + Min – Korean Wedding Ceremony

Venue: Bowers Museum, Santa Ana, CA

Migi and Min had a Korean Ceremony during the cocktail hours. I enjoy the vibrate color and richness of tradition in the Korean Wedding Ceremony.

Min + Migi

Venue: Bowers Museum, Santa Ana, CA

Hy traveled down to Los Angeles Nov last year to photograph this wedding. This was not the first time we photograph a wedding in Southern California, but it was indeed HyStudio’s first wedding in a museum. The museum offered a cozy garden, nice architecture. Inside the museum, there were amazing art exhibits that helped Hy created unique photos for Min & Migi.

Migi with her sisters. I’ve got many questions from brides about whether we do straight portrait shot for the families and friends. Yes yes, we always do, unless a bride specifically opts out. I know I’ve been posing mostly creative, romantic shots here on this blog. Here is one relax portrait shot for the girls.

Aloha & Mazal Tov!

I’ve been writing about HyStudio’s interest in destination weddings on this blog. And you never know how internet can bring people together.

Danielle left a message on one of my blog entry back in Sept this year knowing our interest in destination weddings. I contacted her and we talked on the phone about details. Danielle lived in South Cal. We didn’t get a chance to meet Danielle and Jeff until 1 day before their wedding. But by working with Danielle on the phone and through emails, I knew we will have lots of fun with the couple.

The wedding was magical for us. It was our first destination wedding to Hawaii. The boys (Hy & Frank) flew together for the first time. Danielle and Jeff had a beautiful and romantic wedding on the beach of Big Island. The wedding was small and intimate. It was a fun celebration between close family and friends.

I’ve shown Hy in action before. Picture above, you can see Frank on the left.

Super sorry for my faithful readers. I know I promised to post this ‘tomorrow’, and before I realized it, couple days flies by. Life is so unpredictable ~ BTW, Happy Friday!!

As I mentioned before, during Ann and Chris’ first visit, we both discovered that Ann’s brother and I worked in the same company, actually Ann’s brother and I worked quite closely in our previous roles. Working through Ann’s wedding photos brought tears in my eyes, it’s like a little sister got married. Looking through Ann and Chris’ wedding photos, I really enjoyed Hy’s way of capturing the emotions of the day and complexity of the photos.

First of, Lisa Zomer, a well known make up artist in our industry. I was really happy that we get to work with Lisa for the first time.
